    TEAM NOTES

  • The New Jersey Devils defeated the Montreal Canadiens in the third and final matchup of the regular season, 2-1.  The Devils finish the season-series against the Canadiens, 2-0-1.
  • New Jersey extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1).
  • Tonight’s game closed out the 16th and final back-to-back sets. The Devils finish the season 9-5-2 in the first games, and 8-8-0 in second games of back-to-backs.
  • The club is 13-6-4 vs. the Atlantic Division in 2017-18.  The Devils are 3-4-2 at the Bell Centre and 6-7-5 overall against the Canadiens since the 2012-13 season.
  • Taylor Hall’s short-handed goal gave New Jersey the outright lead for the most short-handed goals in the league this season.  This is the fifth time in Devils history that the club has scored 12+ shorthanded goals in a season (2008-09=12, 2011-12=15,1991-92=15, 1987-88=15) *credit Craig Seiden, WFAN/TOJN Digital Statistician.
  • New Jersey was held without a power play goal in tonight’s contest.  The last time the Devils did not score on the power play was on Mar. 23 vs Tampa Bay.

     

     

     

     

    PLAYER NOTES

     

  • Nico Hischier tied the game :26 seconds into the third frame.  The rookies 19th goal ties him with Scott Gomez for fourth most goals as a rookie (1999-2000).  Additionally, Hischier ties Adam Henrique for fourth most points by a Devils rookie (51).
  • Sami Vatanen tallied a point with the assist on Hischier’s goal.  Vatanen is now only one assist shy of tying his career high of 29, set back in the 2015-16 season with the Anaheim Ducks.
  • Kyle Palmieri added the secondary assist on Hischier’s goal, extending his point streak to five games (4G-3A-7PTS).
  • Taylor Hall netted his first career short-handed goal, and game winner.  The goal marks Hall’s 89th point, tying Brian Gionta for fourth most points in a single season (2005-06).  Hall extends his point streak to eight games, and has a three game goal streak (6G-7A-13PTS).
  • Travis Zajac finishes the season series with four points against the Canadiens.
