POST-GAME NOTES

New Jersey’s four-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday evening when they dropped their fourth and final game against their Metropolitan Division rival Columbus Blue Jackets, 1-2 L, in regulation time.

New Jersey finished their 2017-18 season-series, 1-3-0=2PTS (CBJ – 3-1-0=6PTS).  Since the NHL formulated its current four-division format in 2013-14, the Devils are 6-13-1 overall vs. Columbus and are 2-7-1 at Prudential Center.

 

Taylor Hall, the NHL’s active scoring streak leader, notched NJD’s only goal this evening to extend his points-streak to 12 straight games.  He has 8G-7A-15PTS over the last 12 GP to tie the franchise-record when Ilya Kovalchuk, notched 14PTS (7G-7A) in 12GP in 2010-11.

Hall also has a personal 19-game, points-streak (13G-14A-27PTS), Jan. 2-Feb. 20. He missed three games missed due to an injury (right hand/thumb) during that time, Jan. 2-Feb. 18. Overall, Hall’s stretch of 18 consecutive games with at least 1PT is the longest such run in NJD franchise history. The record was previously owned by Patrik Elias (15G-9A-24PTS in 15GP from Dec. 27, 1999-Jan. 28, 2000) and Brian Gionta (12G-13A-25PTS from Mar. 12-Apr. 18, 2006).

The NHL’s First Star of the Week (week ending Feb. 18), Nico Hischier, scored his 40TH PT of the season assisting on Hall’s goal. Hischier has 4G-5A- 9PTS, extending his season-high, points-streak to six games, Feb. 11-18.

 

CBJ F Artemi Panarin, finished as the series’ leading goal scorer with 8PTS (1G-7A.
