Devils Post-Game Notes: Feb. 10 at Columbus Blue Jackets

POST-GAME NOTES

New Jersey lost, 1-6 L, in regulation-time against Columbus in at Nationwide Arena.  They now trail their inter-division opponent, 1-2-0, in their four-game, season-series.  The Metropolitan Division-rivals will face-off for their season-series finale, Feb. 20 at Prudential Center.

NJD and CBJ played their first two games in a home-and-home series. The Devils defeated the Blue Jackets, 4-1, at Nationwide Arena on Dec. 5.  Three nights later, Dec. 8 at Prudential Center,  Columbus defeated New Jersey, 3-5, on their home turf.

Hall’s personal 12-game, points-streak, 8G-9A-17PTS, from Jan. 2-Feb. 8 was finally snapped tonight.

The Devils are 7-7-1 against Metropolitan Division opponents and are 16-10-5 against all Eastern Conference competition.

CBJ struck first tonight and did not relent, as Jackets’ F Pierre-Luc Dubois netted the first goal of the evening, with 2:30 remaining in the first period.

Columbus F Artemi Panarin picked-up the lone-helper, his sixth vs. NJD this season, and scored Columbus’ second goal to double their lead, 2-0, in the second period.

New Jersey was out-shot, 35-50, which ties their season-high (Oct. 11 @ TOR, 6-3 W, 50 shots against). Keith Kinkaid stopped a season-high 44 saves.  The netminder also faced 50 shots in a game for the first time in his NHL career.

Right wing,  Kyle Palmieri had the club’s only point tonight, netting his 12th goal of the season late in the third period, increasing his point total to 23PTS (12G-11A).

Keith Kinkaid started in his career high sixth-consecutive game, Dec.  with New Jersey tonight, he stopped 44-50 shots in the contest, setting a season-high for saves in a game and a new career-high in shots against.
