POST-GAME NOTES

The Devils WON/LOST, X-X, in the third and final game between the two clubs this season.  The Devils finished the season series X-X-X.  They defeated Detroit, Nov. 25 (4-3 Wo) at Little Caesars Arena, Dec. 27 (3-1 W), and Jan. 22 (X-X X), at Prudential Center.

Tonight’s game marked the club’s 10th of 16 back-to-back sets this season as they face the Boston Bruins at TD Garden tomorrow (7PM, MSG/TOJN).  The Devils are X-X-X in first games and 5-4-0 in second contests of back-to-backs.

The Devils have never swept the Red Wings, X-X-X, in a season series. The club is X-X-X vs. Detroit since the 2013-14 season.  New Jersey is X-X-X (X-X-X home) vs. the Eastern Conference and is X-X-X (X-X-X home) against Atlantic Division opponents.

Taylor Hall missed his third game of the season tonight with a hand injury, and is also projected to sit out tomorrow nights game against Boston.  Hall’s point streak was snapped at 7 games (Jan. 2-Jan. 20) (5G-7A-12PTS) tonight, in which four of the seven games included a multi-point night for the All-Star.  Taylor Hall leads all Devils with 4PTS (1G-3A) vs. Detroit this season

Brian Gibbons (OT) and Nico Hischier have New Jersey’s game-winners thus far.

The Devils lost, 3-1, in the second of four meetings between the clubs and the first at Wells Fargo Center. New Jersey trails the season-series 0-2-0. They lost the first match-up of the season-series, 3-5 L, Jan. 13 at Prudential Center and have been out-scored, 4-8, thus far.

New Jersey and Philadelphia have two games remaining in this season-series; Feb. 1 at Prudential Center & Feb. 13 at Wells Fargo Center. The Devils are 6-3-0 at Wells Fargo Center since the 2013-14 season.

Rookie Jesper Bratt, scored his 12th goal of the season, and leads all Devils’ rookies in scoring. Will Butcher notched the primary assist and leads all Devils’ rookies with 25.

With his assist tonight, Taylor Hall has tied his career-high with a seven-game, points-streak from Jan. 2-20 (5G-7A-12PTS). Also Jan. 16-Feb. 4, 2016 (2G-7A-9PTS) as an Edmonton Oiler.

Hall had two assists (2PTS) vs. Philadelphia in their first meeting on Jan. 13.

The Devils, 56PTS, are currently second in the Metropolitan Division and lead the Flyers by 4PTS (52PTS).

The Devils were out-shot for the first time in five consecutive games, 29-31. The club was 1-5 on the power play and was 4-4 on the penalty-kill.

The Devils are now 5-6-1 (3-3-1 road) against the Metropolitan Division and are 13-7-5 (7-3-3 road) vs. all Eastern Conference opponents.

Keith Kinkaid left the game during the first period with a lower body injury and did not return.  He surrendered three goals on seven shots and fell to 7-4-2 on the season.

Ken Appleby, who was recalled from Binghamton (AHL) on an emergency basis, stopped all 24 shots he faced in the game.  It was the first NHL action of his career.
