Team Notes

  • The Devils finished their season-series with Toronto 1-2-0. It was just the second time in their last 12 match-ups that the Devils fell in regulation against the Maple Leafs (6-2-4).
  • With the loss, New Jersey is 7-12-4 against the Atlantic Division and is 17-23-7 vs. Eastern Conference opponents. The Devils have one remaining game this season vs. an Atlantic Division foe on Apr. 9 at Detroit.
  • The Devils were 1-4 on the power play tonight and have scored a power play goal in their last six games (6-19, 31.6%). New Jersey did not convert on a 1:35 five-on-three man-advantage during the third period.
  • The Devils were 1-2 on the penalty kill tonight and were 9-12 (75%) while shorthanded over the last five games.
  • New Jersey out-shot the Maple Leafs, 32-30, including 14-8 in the final frame.
  • At 9:04 of the third period, Toronto requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether a New Jersey player interfered with Toronto goaltender Curtis McElhinney prior to John Moore’s goal. After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line. Therefore the original call stood – good goal New Jersey Devils.

Player Notes

  • John Moore scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season. He leads all Devils’ defensemen in goals. Moore has tied his career-high with 19 points, which he set in the 2015-16 season. It was the first two-goal game of his career. He also had a season-high five shots on net.
  • Damon  Severson and Kyle Palmieri had the assists on Moore’s first tally. Severson leads all Devils’ blueliners and is fifth overall on the club with 31 points. Palmieri assisted on both of Moore’s goals.
  • Palmieri reached the 50-point mark for the second time in his career and is the first Devil to do so this season. He has assists in two consecutive games and has nine points (5g-4a) over the last six games. Palmieri needs just one assist for 100 as a Devil.
  • Pavel Zacha picked up another power play assist tonight on Moore’s second goal and has a team-leading six-game, point-streak (tie, Hall; Jan. 12-21, 2g-4a) with six assists in his last six games. Twelve of Zacha’s 22 points this season have been on the man-advantage.
  • Keith Kinkaid made his 19th start of the season and stopped 26 of 29 shots (+1 ENG) to fall to 7-11-2 on the season.
