LAST GAME: NEW JERSEY 2 at COLORADO 3

The Devils finished their season series 1-1-0 against the Avalanche and are now win-less in their last nine games (0-7-2). New Jersey out-shot the Colorado, 27-22, including 24-12 over the final two periods.

Taylor Hall opened the scoring for the Devils with his 15th goal of the season and led the Devils with four shots on net. Stefan Noesen scored his fifth goal of the season, third with the Devils, in the third period.

Ben Lovejoy, Beau Bennett and Joseph Blandisi each added one assist each on the night. Blandisi had a season-high 16:39 of action.

Travis Zajac appeared in his 765th game with the Devils, and is now tied for 8th all-time in games played in franchise history with Sergei Brylin.

Cory Schneider stopped 19 of 22 shots and fell to 19-22-10 on the season. Schneider has stopped 663 of 718 shots (.923 save%) since Jan. 1.

Jacob Josefson (upper body, five games missed) is day-to-day.

Michael Cammalleri (upper body, four games missed) is week-to-week.

Keith Kinkaid (right knee, one game missed) has resumed skating with team.

DEVILS VS. COYOTES

Tonight is the second and final meeting between New Jersey and Arizona this season. The Devils defeated Arizona, 5-3, on Oct. 25 at Prudential Center. Taylor Hall and Travis Zajac each notched two goals in the contest, while Adam Henrique had one goal.

Cory Schneider stopped 28 of 31 shots in the victory. He has a career-best .962 save% and four shutouts in 10 games vs. Arizona.

Tonight is the Devils final game of their three-game, road-trip. New Jersey lost the first two games of the trip in Colorado and Columbus. The Devils are 5-5-3 against the Pacific Division and are 10-10-5 vs. Western Conference opponents.

The Devils have won each of their last two games at Gila River Arena and are 4-0-0 in their last four meetings vs. the Coyotes.

ACE IN THE DOT

Travis Zajac was 22-29 in the faceoff circle on Feb. 19 at the NY Islanders. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Zajac’s 75.9% winning-percentage was the second highest in the NHL out of the 75 prior instances of a player taking 29+ faceoffs in a game this season (Patrice Bergeron, 23-29 (79.3%)).

Zajac’s 29 faceoffs on Feb. 19 was the fifth-most he’s taken in one game this season. On Feb. 27 vs. MTL, he won 20 of 30 draws (66.7%).

SCHNEIDER SAVES

Cory Schneider ranks 9th in the NHL in save-percentage (.923) among goaltenders that have played in at least 10 games since Jan. 1. He has stopped 663 of 718 shots in his last 25 games.

On Dec. 22 vs. the Flyers, he stopped 16 of 16 shots for his 13th shutout with New Jersey. On Jan. 2, he stonewalled the Bruins, saving 22 of 22 shots. Schneider has 14 shutouts as a Devil and 23 in his NHL career. He is currently ranked second on the club all-time trailing only Martin Brodeur (124).

POWER PLAY HEATING UP

The Devils have scored on the power play 12 times over the last 16 games. The Devils are 12-36 (33.3%) on the power play since Feb. 1, which ranks first in the NHL during that time-frame.

PAVEL PLAY GOAL

Pavel Zacha ranks third among NHL rookies (tie, J. Vesey, A. Matthews, S. Aho) with five power play goals. Eight of Zacha’s 16 points this season have come on the man-advantage.

PROSPECT WATCH

Devils’ prospect, Michael McLeod, was named the CHL’s Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 26. He had 11 points in three games (5g-6a) and was a +8 rating. The Mississauga (OHL) forward ranks second on his club with 66pts (22g-44a) in 52 games this season.

Joey Anderson (Minnesota-Duluth) was named to the 2016-17 NCHC All-Rookie Team. Anderson leads all NCHC freshmen with 17 assists (26pts) in 31 games.

ROAD REVENGE

After starting the season 0-3-2 in their first five road games, New Jersey had points in eight straight games away from Prudential Center (7-0-1) until falling to the NY Islanders on Feb. 19. The Devils have out-scored their opponents 29-25 in the last 11 road contests. The club is ranked first in the NHL with a 87.8% penalty-kill on the road and is second (tie, CGY, CAR, FLA) with five shorthanded goals.

BLOCKAID STONEWALLING

Keith Kinkaid stopped 43 of 44 shots and 2 of 2 shootout attempts in a winning effort Dec. 29 at Wsh. It was his second 40+ save performance of the season. On Jan. 13 at Cgy. he saved 31 of 32 shots for his fifth win of the season. He stopped 35 of 36 shots Jan. 21 at Phi. He stopped 13 of 13 shots in relief of Cory Schneider on Jan. 24 vs. LA. Has a .915 save-percentage this season.

Had first career point Feb. 19 at NYI when credited with a secondary assist on Taylor Hall’s PP goal.

HOMELAND

New Jersey suffered its first regulation loss at home on Dec. 9 vs. Stl., 1-4, after establishing a new franchise record, 8-0-2, for the longest streak of being undefeated in regulation at home to start a season (previously, 1987-88, 8-0-1). The Devils are 13-13-6 at home.

NOES-EN FOR THE NET 

Stefan Noesen had two goals in his first two games with New Jersey since being claimed off waivers from Anaheim on Jan. 25. Noesen is the first Devil to score in his first two games with the club since Devante Smith-Pelly (Mar. 1-3, 2g-1a). Noesen had his first NHL assist on Feb. 14 vs. Col.

SEVERSON SCORING

Damon Severson leads defensemen and is sixth on the Devils in scoring with 3g-24a-27pts. He has four multi-point games this season and is third on the club in assists. Severson surpassed his career-high of 21pts with an assist Jan. 17 at Min. in his 46th game of 2016-17. He had 1g-20a-21pts in 72 games played in 2015-16.

HALL-STAR REPEAT

Metropolitan Division forward Taylor Hall became the only player to win back-to-back All-Star Game titles under the 3-on-3 format. Hall was a member of the Pacific Division team that won in 2016. He was a combined 1g-3a-4pts in two games, recording the lone assist on MVP Wayne Simmonds’ game-winning goal in the Final.

WESTWORLD

The Devils were 3-0-1 on their most-recent, four-game Western Conference road-trip, which made stops in Edmonton (2-3 OT), Calgary (2-1), Vancouver (2-1 OT), and Minnesota (4-3). Last season, the Devils were 2-2-0 when visiting those cities. New Jersey is 5-5-3 vs. the Pacific Division, 5-4-2 vs. the Central Division, and is 10-9-5 overall against the Western Conference.

ZAJAC CLIMBING THE FRANCHISE LEADERBOARD

Travis Zajac appeared in his 700th career game, all with New Jersey, on Oct. 13, 2016.  He ranks 9th all-time in games played in Devils’ history and is 7th all-time among forwards. He tied Sergei Brylin for 8th all-time among skaters with 765 games Mar. 9 at Col.  He tied Zach Parise (410pts) for 9th in Devils’ history on Dec. 3 at Nsh.  Zajac scored 1g on Feb. 18 vs. NYI to tie Wilf Paiement (153g) for 9th all-time in franchise history.  On Feb. 21 vs. Ott., he passed Bobby Holik for 9th all-time in franchise history with 271 assists.

THIS DAY IN DEVILS HISTORY

Mar. 11, 1986- Obtained Philadelphia’s 1986 third round pick (Marc Laniel) in exchange for Glenn Resch. Obtained Buffalo’s 12th round pick (Doug Kirton) for Phil Russell.
