Team Notes

  • The Devils fell to 0-1-2 in their four-game, season-series with the Rangers. The clubs will face-off for the final time in 2016-17 on Mar. 21 at Prudential Center. New Jersey is win-less in their last three games (0-2-1).
  • After tonight’s game, New Jersey is 8-11 in overtime this season.
  • New Jersey scored twice within 47 seconds into the third period to take a 3-2 lead in the contest before New York forced overtime with 4:25 remaining in the third period.
  • The Devils are 8-6-3 against the Metropolitan Division and are 15-16-6 against the Eastern Conference. The club is 6-5-2 at Prudential Center vs. the Rangers since the 2011-12 season.
  • New Jersey was 1-2 on the power play tonight and are 11-24 (45.8%) with the man-advantage over the last 10 games.
  • The Devils were 1-1 on the penalty kill tonight and are 19-24 (79.2%) over the last 10 games.
  • The Devils were out-shot, 38-40, in the contest. Both clubs had 12 shots each in the third period.
  • At 1:14 of the third period, New York requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether a New Jersey player interfered with New York goaltender Antti Raanta prior to Kyle Palmieri’s goal.After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line. Therefore the original call stood. Since the Coach’s Challenge did not result in the original call being overturned, the New York Rangers forfeited their time-out.

Player Notes

  • Adam Henrique scored his 16th goal of the season to bring the game to 2-1 NYR at 18:28 of the second period. He has seven points (2g-5a) in his last seven games against New York.
  • Beau Bennett and P.A. Parenteau had the assists on Henrique’s marker. It was Bennett’s first point since his game-winner Jan. 17 at Minnesota (4 games). Parenteau has 9g-10a-19pts against his former club.
  • Kyle Palmieri scored the equalizer to notch the game at two apiece, 27 seconds into the third period. He then scored his second goal of the night on the power play at 1:14 into the final frame. He leads the team with 18 goals this season and has 3g-2a-5pts over his last three games. His goals were scored in a span of 47 seconds.
  • The fastest two goals scored by a Devil in franchise history happened when Jeff Friesen notched two goals in 26 seconds (Jan. 13, 2003).
  • Travis Zajac had two assists tonight for his eighth multi-point game of the campaign. He has a four-game point-streak (2g-4a).
  • Taylor Hall and Andy Greene also had one helper each tonight.
  • Hall has surpassed the 40pt mark for the sixth time in his seven season NHL career. He leads the club with 41 points.
  • Cory Schneider stopped 36 of 40 shots tonight and fell to 19-18-7 on the season.
  • Damon Severson led New Jersey with 23:11 of ice-time.
  • Kyle Quincey and Bennett each had five shots in goal.
  • Devante Smith-Pelly had four hits, which was more than any other Devil or Ranger tonight.
