The Devils finished their season-series with the Senators 0-3-0 for the first time in their history. The only other season that New Jersey failed to win a game vs. Ottawa was in 2012-13 (0-1-2).

Travis Zajac tied Wilf Paiement for 9th all-time in franchise history after scoring his 153rd career goal on the power play.

Joseph Blandisi and Kyle Palmieri assisted on Zajac’s marker. Palmieri has points in consecutive games (1g-2a). Blandisi’s helper was his first of the season and his second point in the past two games (1g-1a).

Cory Schneider stopped 21 of 23 shots and fell to 19-18-8 on the season.

DEVILS VS. RANGERS

Tonight is the third of four games and the first of two to be played at Prudential Center between the Devils and Rangers in 2016-17.  New Jersey is 0-1-1 against New York this season, falling 0-5 on Dec. 11 and 2-3 SO on Dec. 18 at Madison Square Garden.  Kyle Palmieri leads the Devils with two points (2a) against the Rangers, while four other Devils have one point each.

New Jersey is looking to improve on their 8-6-2 record against Metropolitan Division teams. The club is 15-16-5 vs. the Eastern Conference this season. New Jersey is 6-5-1 against New York at Prudential Center and were 2-0-0 at home in 2015-16.

Joseph Blandisi has three points (1g-2a) in three career games vs. the Rangers. Adam Henrique has six points (1g-5a) in his last six games vs. NYR.

ACE IN THE DOT

Travis Zajac was 22-29 in the faceoff circle on Feb. 19 at the NY Islanders. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Zajac’s 75.9% winning-percentage was the second highest in the NHL out of the 75 prior instances of a player taking 29+ faceoffs in a game this season (Patrice Bergeron, 23-29 (79.3%)).

Zajac’s 29 faceoffs on Feb. 19 was only the third-most he’s taken in one game this season. On Nov. 5 at TB, he won 18-30 (60.0%) and on Nov. 8 vs. CAR, he won 17-32 (53.2%).

SCHNEIDER SAVES

Cory Schneider ranks 2nd in the NHL in save-percentage (.931) among goaltenders that have played in at least 10 games since Jan. 1 (1st, J. Gibson-ANA; .941) . He has stopped 500 of 537 shots in his last 19 games.

On Dec. 22 vs. the Flyers, he stopped 16 of 16 shots for his 13th shutout with New Jersey. On Jan. 2, he stonewalled the Bruins, saving 22 of 22 shots. Schneider has 14 shutouts as a Devil and 23 in his NHL career. He is currently ranked second on the club all-time trailing only Martin Brodeur (124).

ROAD REVENGE

After starting the season 0-3-2 in their first five road games, New Jersey had points in eight straight games away from Prudential Center (7-0-1) until falling to the NY Islanders on Feb. 19. The Devils have out-scored their opponents 25-16 in the last seven road contests. The club is ranked first in the NHL with a 88.0% penalty-kill on the road and is second (tie, CGY) with five shorthanded goals.

BLOCKAID STONEWALLING

Keith Kinkaid stopped 43 of 44 shots and 2 of 2 shootout attempts in a winning effort Dec. 29 at Wsh. It was his second 40+ save performance of the season. On Jan. 13 at Cgy. he saved 31 of 32 shots for his fifth win of the season. He stopped 35 of 36 shots Jan. 21 at Phi. He stopped 13 of 13 shots in relief of Cory Schneider on Jan. 24 vs. LA. Has a .913 save-percentage this season.

Had first career point Feb. 19 at NYI when credited with a secondary assist on Taylor Hall’s PP goal.

HOMELAND

New Jersey suffered its first regulation loss at home on Dec. 9 vs. Stl., 1-4, after establishing a new franchise record, 8-0-2, for the longest streak of being undefeated in regulation at home to start a season (previously, 1987-88, 8-0-1). The Devils are 13-12-4 at home.

NOES-EN FOR THE NET 

Stefan Noesen had two goals in his first two games with New Jersey since being claimed off waivers from Anaheim on Jan. 25. Noesen is the first Devil to score in his first two games with the club since Devante Smith-Pelly (Mar. 1-3, 2g-1a). Noesen had his first NHL assist Feb. 14 vs. Col.

SEVERSON SCORING

Damon Severson leads defensemen and is sixth (tie, Parenteau) on the Devils in scoring with 3g-23a-26pts. He has four multi-point games this season and is tied with Travis Zajac for second on the club in assists. Severson surpassed his career-high of 21pts with an assist Jan. 17 at Min. in his 46th game of 2016-17. He had 1g-20a-21pts in 72 games played in 2015-16.

HOMEWARD BOUND

The Devils will play two more games at Prudential Center in February. They are at home in nine of 11 games and are 4-4-1 in February. New Jersey completed their season-long five-game home-stand, 3-2-0 at the Rock from Feb. 6-18.

HALL-STAR REPEAT

Metropolitan Division forward Taylor Hall became the only player to win back-to-back All-Star Game titles under the 3-on-3 format. Hall was a member of the Pacific Division team that won in 2016. He was a combined 1g-3a-4pts in two games, recording the lone assist on MVP Wayne Simmonds’ game-winning goal in the Final.

WESTWORLD

The Devils were 3-0-1 on their most-recent, four-game Western Conference road-trip, which made stops in Edmonton (2-3 OT), Calgary (2-1), Vancouver (2-1 OT), and Minnesota (4-3). Last season, the Devils were 2-2-0 when visiting those cities. New Jersey is 5-5-3 vs. the Pacific Division, 5-4-2 vs. the Central Division, and is 10-9-5 overall against the Western Conference.

ZAJAC CLIMBING THE FRANCHISE LEADERBOARD

Travis Zajac appeared in his 700th career game, all with New Jersey, on Oct. 13, 2016.  He ranks 11th all-time in games played in Devils’ history and is 7th all-time among forwards. He passed Colin White for 10th all-time among skaters with 744 games Jan. 17 at Min.  He tied Zach Parise (410pts) for 9th in Devils’ history on Dec. 3 at Nsh.  Zajac scored 1g on Feb. 18 vs. NYI to tie Wilf Paiement (153g) for 9th all-time in franchise history.  On Feb. 21 vs. Ott., he passed Bobby Holik for 9th all-time in franchise history with 271 assists.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY

Feb. 25, 1997- New Jersey obtained Dave Ellett, Doug Gilmour, New Jersey’s #4 1998 or #3 1999 Draft Pick (previously acquired – Andre Lakos) from Toronto for Jason Smith, Steve Sullivan, rights to Alyn McCauley.
