Taylor Hall led the way for the Devils with two goals (EV, EN) and a season-high eight shots (tie, Nov. 5 at TB).  Travis Zajac had one goal (PP) and one assist. The goal tied him with Randy McKay for 11th all-time in franchise history with 151 goals. Jacob Josefson recorded his first goal of the season, the game-winning goal. Seth Helgeson scored the first NHL goal of his career tonight (47 games). 

Andy Greene, P.A. Parenteau, Ben Lovejoy, Michael Cammalleri, Adam Henrique, Kyle Palmieri, and Steven Santini each had one assist. Henrique has points in his last four game (3g-2a-5pts). Palmieri has four points (3g-1a) in his last three games.

Cory Schneider stopped 31 of 32 shots for his 16th win of the season.

DEVILS VS. SABRES

Tonight is the third and final regular-season meeting between the Devils and Sabres in 2016-17. New Jersey is 2-0-0 vs. Buffalo this season, having defeated the club, 2-1 OT, on Nov. 11 at KeyBank Center and 4-2 on Nov. 12 at Prudential Center. The last time the Devils swept Buffalo in a season-series was in 2014-15 (3-0-0).

Andy Greene scored the game-winner in overtime (penalty shot) on Nov. 11 and Kyle Palmieri had the GWG on Nov. 12. Taylor Hall leads the Devils in points, three assists (3pts), vs. Buffalo.

New Jersey is 6-8-3 vs. the Atlantic Division and is 12-13-5 against Eastern Conference opponents. The Devils are 4-1-0 at Prudential Center and are 8-2-1 overall vs. the Sabres since the 2013-14 season.

Keith Kinkaid and Cory Schneider are a combined 8-3-2 against Buffalo in their careers.

DEVILS IN DETAIL

HALL-STAR REPEAT

Metropolitan Division forward Taylor Hall became the only player to win back-to-back All-Star Game titles under the 3-on-3 format. Hall was a member of the Pacific Division team that won in 2016. He was a combined 1g-3a-4pts in two games, recording the lone assist on MVP Wayne Simmonds’ game-winning goal in the Final.

WESTWORLD

The Devils were 3-0-1 on their most-recent, four-game Western Conference road-trip, which made stops in Edmonton (2-3 OT), Calgary (2-1), Vancouver (2-1 OT), and Minnesota (4-3). Last season, the Devils were 2-2-0 when visiting those cities. New Jersey is 5-4-3 vs. the Pacific Division, 4-4-2 vs. the Central Division, and is 9-8-5 overall against Western Conference opponents.

WILD WIN

The Devils defeated the Minnesota Wild, 4-3, on Jan. 17. Entering that game the Wild were 17-1-2 over their last 20 games and were in first place in the Western Conference. Trailing 2-1 after the second period, New Jersey scored three goals in the third period to secure the victory. It was the sixth time in 2016-17 that the Devils were able to win a game when trailing after two periods.

SCHNEIDER SAVING

Cory Schneider has stopped 323 of 348 shots over his last 12 games (.928 save%). On Dec. 22 vs. the Flyers, he stopped 16 of 16 shots for his 13th shutout with New Jersey. On Jan. 2, he stonewalled the Bruins, saving 22 of 22 shots. Schneider has 14 shutouts as a Devil and 23 in his NHL career. He is currently ranked second on the club all-time trailing only Martin Brodeur (124).

ROAD REVENGE

After starting the season 0-3-2 in their first five road games, New Jersey has won their last six games away from Prudential Center and has points in their last seven (6-0-1). The Devils have out-scored their opponents 21-10 in the last six road contests. The club is ranked first in the NHL with a 88.8% penalty-kill on the road and is second (tie, CGY) with five shorthanded goals.

BLOCKAID STONEWALLING

Keith Kinkaid stopped 43 of 44 shots and 2 of 2 shootout attempts in a winning effort Dec. 29 at Wsh. It was his second 40+ save performance of the season. On Jan. 13 at Cgy. he saved 31 of 32 shots for his fifth win of the season. He stopped 35 of 36 shots Jan. 21 at Phi. He stopped 13 of 13 shots in relief of Cory Schneider on Jan. 24 vs. LA. Has a .920 save-percentage this season.

HOMELAND

New Jersey suffered its first regulation loss at home on Dec. 9 vs. Stl., 1-4, after establishing a new franchise record, 8-0-2, for the longest streak of being undefeated in regulation at home to start a season (previously, 1987-88, 8-0-1). The Devils are 10-9-4 at home.

PERCENTAGE FOR MILES

Rookie forward Miles Wood is eighth among NHL rookies with a 12.1 shooting-percentage. He has seven goals on 58 shots in 34 games played this season.

NOES-EN FOR THE NET 

Stefan Noesen had two goals in his first two games with New Jersey since being claimed off waivers from Anaheim on Jan. 25. Noesen is the first Devil to score in his first two games with the club since Devante Smith-Pelly (Mar. 1-3, 2g-1a).

SEVERSON SCORING

Damon Severson leads defensemen and is seventh on the Devils in scoring with 3g-19a-22pts. He has four multi-point games this season. Severson surpassed his career-high of 21pts with an assist Jan. 17 at Min. in his 46th game of 2016-17. He had 1g-20a-21pts in 72 games played in 2015-16.

HOMEWARD BOUND

The Devils will play eight of their next 9 games at Prudential Center. They are at home in nine of 11 games in February. New Jersey will play a season-long five-game home-stand at the Rock from Feb. 6-18. 

HATS OFF FOR CAMMALLERI

Michael Cammalleri scored a natural hat trick, the sixth hat trick of his NHL career on Nov. 6 at Carolina. The three goals were the first three of his 2016-17 season. It was his first as a Devil and his first since Feb. 13, 2013 (Dal. 4 at Cgy. 7). It was the first natural hat trick of his career. On Nov. 23, he scored four points vs. Toronto (1g-3a) after returning from a six game absence (personal reasons). He had 11 points (7g-4a) from Nov. 6-25 (5GP).

On Dec. 3, Cammalleri scored two goals, including his fourth career OT goal to lead the Devils’ four-goal comeback to defeat the Nashville Predators 5-4 OT.

Cammalleri was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for the period ending Nov. 27. He led the league that week with 4g-4a-8pts, including a four-point performance against Toronto on Nov. 23. 

ZAJAC CLIMBING THE FRANCHISE LEADERBOARD

Travis Zajac appeared in his 700th career game, all with New Jersey, on Oct. 13, 2016.  He ranks 11th all-time in games played in Devils’ history and is 7th all-time among forwards. He passed Colin White for 10th all-time among skaters with 744 games Jan. 17 at Min.  He tied Zach Parise (410pts) for 9th in Devils’ history on Dec. 3 at Nsh.  Zajac scored 1g on Feb. 4 at CBJ to tie Randy McKay (151g) for sole possession 11th all-time in franchise history.  On Jan. 15 at Van., he passed Brian Rafalski for 10th all-time in assists in franchise history with 268. 

THIS DAY IN DEVILS HISTORY

Feb. 6, 2013- The Devils obtained Andrei Loktionov from Los Angeles for #5 2013 Draft Pick (later traded to Buffalo- Gustav Possler).
