Team Notes

  • New Jersey fell to 1-2-0 in their four-game season-series with Washington. The clubs will meet for their season-series finale on Mar. 2 at Verizon Center.
  • Through 50 games, New Jersey is 10-9-3 at Prudential Center and is 20-21-9 overall this season.
  • The Devils have lost six consecutive games on home ice (0-5-1). Their last win at Prudential Center was on Jan. 2 vs. Boston (3-0).
  • New Jersey is 2-4-2 at home and are 5-8-3 overall vs. Washington since the 2013-14 season. The club fell to 6-5-2 against Metropolitan Division opponents and to 11-13-5 vs. the Eastern Conference.
  • The Devils scored one power play goal tonight on three opportunities. New Jersey is 4-17 (23.5%) with the man-advantage over the last five games.
  • New Jersey was 2-4 on the penalty-kill tonight and have stopped 15-22 (68.2%) shorthanded opposition chances over the last five games.
  • The Devils were out-shot 29-36, including 18-27 over the final two periods.
  • At 17:00 of the third period, video review confirmed that Chandler Stephenson’s shot did not cross the New Jersey goal line. No goal Washington.
  • At 18:28 of the first period, New Jersey requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether Washington was off-side prior to Andre Burakovsky’s goal. After reviewing all available replays and consulting with the linesmen, NHL Hockey Operations staff were inconclusive in determining if the Capitals tagged up prior to their goal. Therefore the original call stood– good goal.

Player Notes

  • Stefan Noesen scored his first goal as a Devil, his third of the season, in his New Jersey debut at 3:19 of the first period. It was the second time this season that a player has scored in his first game with New Jersey (P.A. Parenteau; 1g, Oct. 13 vs. Fla.).
  • Pavel Zacha and Jacob Josefson had assists on Noesen’s goal. Zacha has 1g-1a over his last three games. Josefson has 2a over his last three games.
  • Adam Henrique notched his team-leading 12th goal (tie, Parenteau) of 2016-17. It was his first goal in three games.
  • Michael Cammalleri and Parenteau recorded the helpers on Henrique’s marker. Cammalleri has four assists over the last three games. Parenteau has four assists (4pts) over his last five games.
  • Cammalleri has six points (2g-4a + 1 GDG) in eight games vs. the Capitals as a New Jersey Devil.
  • Keith Kinkaid made his 16th start of the season and was credited with the loss in goal. He stopped 13 of 17 shots in 30:18 of action. Cory Schneider relieved Kinkaid at 10:19 of the second period.  Schneider stopped all 18 shots he faced on the night.
  • Kyle Palmieri had a career-high 19 penalty minutes tonight (2 min, 1 maj., 1 misc.). Palmieri and Taylor Hall led New Jersey with four shots on goal apiece.
  • Travis Zajac led all Devils with 22:29 time on ice tonight.
