    New Jersey fell to 6-12-6 on the road and 16-18-9 overall as they completed their season series, 0-0-2, against the Edmonton Oilers. 

     

    Despite stopping 31 of 34 shots, Cory Schneider fell to 12-14-7 on the season. He has stopped 151 of 161 shots-faced (.938 save%) over his last six games.

     

    Travis Zajac and Steven Santini each scored a goal for the Devils. It was Santini’s first NHL goal.

     

    Taylor Hall, P.A Parenteau, Kyle Palmieri and Michael Cammalleri each recorded an assist on the night. Hall and Zajac remain tied for the team-lead in points with 26 apiece.

    Tonight is the first of two games between the Devils and Flames this season. The clubs will wrap-up their season series Feb. 3 at Prudential Center. With tonight’s game, the Devils complete their 10th of 18 sets of back-to-back games. New Jersey is 3-4-3 in first matches and is 4-3-2 in second games of back-to-backs.

     

    The Devils are 3-3-2 vs. the Pacific Division and are 6-7-4 against Western Conference opponents.

    DEVILS IN DETAIL

    HALLSTAR

    Taylor Hall was named a representative for the Metropolitan Division for the 2017 NHL All-Star Game that will take place in Los Angeles from Jan. 28-29 at Staples Center. This will be his second consecutive all-star game as he represented the Oilers in 2015-16. 

     

    WESTWORLD

    Tonight the Devils begin a four-game Western Conference road-trip; making stops in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Minnesota. Last season, the Devils were 2-2-0 when visiting those cities. New Jersey is 3-3-2 vs. the Pacific Division, 3-4-2 vs. the Central Division, and is 6-7-4 overall against Western Conference opponents. 

     

    SCHNEIDER SAVING

    Cory Schneider has two shutouts in his last six starts. On Dec. 22 vs. the Flyers, he stopped 16 of 16 shots for his 13th shutout with New Jersey. On Jan. 2 he stonewalled the Bruins, saving 22 of 22 shots. Schneider has 14 shutouts as a Devil and 23 in his NHL career. He is currently ranked second on the club trailing only Martin Brodeur (124). 

     

    Over his last six starts, Jan. 2-12, he has stopped 151 of 161 (.938 save%) shots faced.

     

    BLOCKAID STONEWALLS CAPS

    Keith Kinkaid stopped 43 of 44 shots and 2 of 2 shootout attempts in a winning effort Dec. 29 at Wsh. It was his second 40+ save performance of the season. 

     

    HOMELAND

    New Jersey suffered its first regulation loss at home on Dec. 9 vs. Stl., 1-4, after establishing a new franchise record for the longest streak of being undefeated in regulation at home to start a season (previously, 1987-88, 8-0-1). The Devils are 10-5-3 at home.

     

    SEVERSON SCORING

    Damon Severson leads defensemen and is sixth on the Devils in scoring with 3g-17a-20pts. He has four multi-point games this season. Severson had 1g-20a-21pts in 72 games played in 2015-16. 

     

    TAYLOR’S TIME

    Taylor Hall ranks third in NHL in average ice-time per game among left-wingers with 19:57. He ranks 16th in TOI in the NHL among forwards (10th- Zajac, 20:17). Had a season-high 25:54 TOI on Nov. 8 vs. Car. That is the second-most ice time Hall’s ever had in a game in his NHL career. (Mar. 20, 2014, 27:10, Buf. at Edm.)

     

    DEFENSE PROVIDING OFFENSE

    New Jersey’s defensemen have provided 11 of the team’s last 65 goals over the last 29 games. The team’s blueliners have scored 17 of New Jersey’s 91 regulation/OT goals (18.7%) this season. In 2015-16, the Devils’ defense provided 20 of the team’s 182 goals last season (10.9%).

     

    HATS OFF FOR CAMMALLERI

    Michael Cammalleri scored a natural hat trick, the sixth hat trick of his NHL career on Nov. 6 at Carolina. The three goals were the first three of his 2016-17 season. It was his first as a Devil and his first since Feb. 13, 2013 (Dal. 4 at Cgy. 7). It was the first natural hat trick of his career. On Nov. 23, he scored four points vs. Toronto (1g-3a) after returning from a six game absence (personal reasons). He had 11 points (7g-4a) from Nov. 6-25 (5GP).

     

    On Dec. 3, Cammalleri scored two goals, including his fourth career OT goal to lead the Devils’ four-goal comeback to defeat the Nashville Predators 5-4 OT.

     

    Cammalleri was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for the period ending Nov. 27. He led the league that week with 4g-4a-8pts, including a four-point performance against Toronto on Nov. 23. 

       

    ZAJAC CLIMBING THE FRANCHISE LEADERBOARD

    Travis Zajac appeared in his 700th career game, all with New Jersey, on Oct. 13, 2016.  He ranks 12th all-time in games played in Devils’ history and is 7th all-time among forwards. He passed John Madden for 12th all-time with 713 career games with the Devils on Nov. 12 vs. Buf.  He tied Zach Parise (410pts) for 9th in Devils’ history on Dec. 3 at Nsh.  Zajac scored 3g on Dec. 1 at Chi. to pass Stephane Richer (147g) for sole possession 12th all-time in franchise history.  Captain Andy Greene is the second-most current-tenured Devil, having played in 680 games with New Jersey. 

     

    IRON MAN STREAK SNAPPED

    Andy Greene’s 350 consecutive games, dating back to Mar. 6, 2012 came to a close on Jan. 6 vs. Tor. On Nov. 21, 2016 he passed Sergei Brylin for third all-time on the list, who played in 328 straight games from Oct. 8, 2003-Apr. 6, 2008. Greene’s streak is the second-longest in team history among defensemen, trailing only Ken Daneyko’s 388 game stretch from Nov. 4, 1989-Mar. 29, 1994. Travis Zajac holds the franchise record, skating in 401 consecutive games from Oct. 26, 2006-Apr. 10, 2011.

     

    Adam Henrique, 95 consecutive games played, now has the longest streak among current Devils.

     

    A-DEVIL ALL-STARS

    John Quenneville and Joseph Blandisi were named to the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic which will be held from Jan. 29-30 at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA. Quenneville ranks fourth in points among AHL rookies (10g-17a-27pts) and leads Albany in points. Blandisi has 6g-14a-20pts in 24 games played.

     

    DEVILS AT WORLD JUNIORS

    Four Devils’ participated in the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championships which took place from Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Montreal and Toronto. All four prospects received medals with their respective countries.

     

    F Blake Speers (3rd round, 2015) and F Michael McLeod (1st, 2016) won silver medals with Team Canada. McLeod had 2g-1a-3pts and Speers had 1g-2a-3pts in the tournament.

     

    F Joey Anderson (3rd, 2016) won gold with the United States. He had 2a in the tournament. Anderson is in his first collegiate season at University of Minnesota-Duluth. 

     

    D Yegor Rykov (5th, 2016) won a bronze medal representing Russia as an alternate captain. Rykov was second among d-men in the tournament with 1g-6a-7pts. He currently plays for SKA St. Petersburg (KHL). 

     

    THIS DAY IN DEVILS HISTORY

    Jan. 13, 1993- The Devils obtained Bernie Nicholls from Edmonton in exchange for Zdeno Ciger and Kevin Todd.
