Team Notes

  • The Devils are now 0-0-1 vs. the Oilers this season and are 3-3-1 against the Pacific Division. New Jersey is 6-7-3 against Western Conference opponents in 2016-17.
  • New Jersey has now reached the halfway point of the season. At 41 games, New Jersey is 16-17-8 (40pts).
  • New Jersey completed their ninth of 18 sets of back-to-back games. The Devils are 3-4-2 in first games and are 4-2-3 in second games of back-to-backs.
  • New Jersey is 2-1-1 at Prudential Center is 3-2-2 overall against Edmonton since the 2013-14 season.
  • The Devils were 0-1 on the power play tonight and are 1-22 (4.5%) over the last five games with the man-advantage.
  • The penalty-kill units were 1-2 on the powerplay, surrendering the second shorthanded situation in the three-on-three overtime. New Jersey is 12-15 (80.0%) on the PK over the last five games.
  • The Devils were out-shot 43-20, including 23-12 during the final two periods.

Player Notes

  • Cory Schneider stopped 41 of 43 shots, falling to 12-13-5 on the season.  41 saves is the second-most he has made in a game this season (44, Dec. 8 at Mtl.).
  • Miles Wood scored his fifth goal of the season on a breakaway at 9:44 of the first period. He has two points in the last two games (1g-1a). It was his first goal since Dec. 22 vs. Phi. (seven games).
  • Travis Zajac and Steven Santini picked up the assists on Wood’s goal. Zajac needs just one assist to tie Brian Rafalski for 10th in franchise history.
  • Jon Merrill skated in a season-high 27:38 and led New Jersey with 3 blocked shots.
  • Damon Severson had a career-high 28:05 of ice-time tonight.
  • Yohann Auvitu sustained a lower body injury during the first period and did not return to action. He was recalled from Albany (AHL) today.
  • P.A. Parenteau paced New Jersey with four shots on goal.
