The New Jersey Devils are now 3-0-0 vs. Carolina this season. The Devils have won two straight games for the first time since Dec. 3-6. They have also won consecutive road games for the first time since the club won three straight road games Nov. 6 at Car., Nov. 11 at Buf., and Nov. 15 at Dallas.
The Devils are 6-3-0 at PNC Arena and are 10-5-1 overall vs. the Hurricanes since the 2013-14 season.
The teams will meet for their regular-season finale on Mar. 25 at Prudential Center.
New Jersey closed-out its eighth of 18 sets of back-to-back games. The club is 3-3-2 in first games and is 4-2-2 in second games of back-to-back matches.
The Devils are 5-4-2 vs. the Metropolitan Division and are 10-9-5 against Eastern Conference opponents this season.
New Jersey was 0-2 on the power play and is 1-28 (3.6%) with the man-advantage over the last five games.
The Devils were 4-4 on the penalty kill and are 14-14 (100.0%) while shorthanded over the last four games.
New Jersey was out-shot 30-18, including 12-3 in the second period.
Cory Schneider stopped 29 of 30 shots and has secured victories in his last two starts. The last time Schneider won consecutive games was from Nov. 8-15 (3-0-0.) He is now 12-12-5 on the season.
Michael Cammalleri ended his 14 game goal-drought, scoring his third game-winning goal of the season at 11:30 of the third period. He is now second on the Devils with 10 goals (tie, A. Henrique).
Cammalleri also assisted on Adam Henrique’s second period marker giving him a two-point night. He has four goals in three games against the Hurricanes this season.
Henrique opened the scoring with his 10th goal of the season and assisted on Cammalleri’s game-winner for his sixth multiple point game of 16-17. Henrique was a +3 on the night and blocked five shots.
Kyle Palmieri sealed the win with an empty net goal at 18:00 in the third period. It was his eighth goal of the season. Palmieri also notched an assist on Cammalleri’s goal, giving him his third multiple-point performance of the season.
The line of Cammalleri, Henrique and Palmieri was a combined +9 tonight.
Damon Severson had an assist. He leads all Devils’ defensemen with 19 points (3g-16a).
Ben Lovejoy had a career-high 28:00 of ice-time. He was also a +2, had four hits and three blocked shots.
Andy Greene was struck with a puck during the first period and did not return to the game.
