Team Notes

  • The Devils had their three-game point-streak (2-0-1) snapped.
  • Tonight, New Jersey opened its fifth of 18 sets of back-to-back games. The Devils are 1-2-1 in first games of back-to-backs and 3-0-1 in the second contest.  
  • The Devils are now 4-8-4 on the road and 12-8-6 overall.
  • New Jersey is now 4-4-3 vs. the Atlantic Division and is 6-4-4 against Eastern Conference opponents this season.
  • The Devils are 2-4-0 at Bell Centre and are 3-5-2 vs. Montreal overall since the 2013-14 season.
  • New Jersey was 1-3 (33.3%) on the power play and is 4/14 (28.6%) over the past five games. The Devils have scored a power play goal in 7 of their last 8 games.
  • The Devils were 2-2 (100%) on the penalty kill and are 15/16 (93.8%) over the past five games.
  • The Devils were out-shot 21-49. The 49 shots against ties a season high (Nov. 26th at Pit.). 
  • At 12:49 of the first period, video review confirmed that the puck crossed the New Jersey goal line in a legal fashion. 
  • At 12:49 of the first period, New Jersey requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether a Montreal player interfered with New Jersey goaltender Cory Schneider prior to Phillip Danault’s goal. After reviewing all available replays, the referee confirmed that no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line.  
  • At 16:19 of the first period, video review confirmed that the puck deflected off of Adam Henrique’s skate and entered the Montreal net in a legal fashion. According to Rule 49.2 “A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking player’s skate who does not use a distinct kicking motion is a legitimate goal.” 
  • At 16:19 of the first period, Montreal requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether New Jersey’s Adam Henrique interfered with Montreal goaltender Carey Price prior to his goal. After reviewing all available replays, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line. 

Player Notes

  • Adam Henrique opened the scoring with his sixth goal of the season for New Jersey at 16:19 of the first period. He also assisted Taylor Hall’s goal giving him 1g-1a on the night. It was his third multi-point game of the season.
  • Taylor Hall got his eighth goal of the season on the power play at 3:09 of the third period. He also assisted on Adam Henrique’s goal in the first period giving him 1g-1a on the night. Hall now has seven points (3g-4a) over the past three games.
  • P.A. Parenteau added an assist on Henrique’s goal. He has an assist in each of his last two games.
  • Kyle Palmieri had an assist on Hall’s power play goal in the third period. He now has two points (1g-1a) in his last two games played. He also led the team with four hits.
  • Cory Schneider started his 20th game of 2016-17 and is now  9-7-4 on the season. He stopped 44 of 49 shots (.898 save %).
  • Damon Severson led the Devils with 20:51 TOI.
