Team Notes

  • New Jersey gained a point in its third straight game but fell, 4-3 SO, to Pittsburgh in the first of five matches between the clubs. New Jersey is now 3-6-3 on the road this season and is 10-6-5 overall.
  • Tonight was the third consecutive game that advanced beyond regulation time for New Jersey (1-0-2 in last three). The Devils are 2-1 in the shootout this season.
  • The Devils are now 2-0-1 vs. the Metropolitan Division in 2016-17 and are 1-0-1 on the road against Metropolitan Div. opponents.
  • New Jersey is now 1-5-1 at PPG Paints Arena and is 6-6-2 vs. the Penguins overall since the 2013-14 season.
  • The Devils had a season-high 49 shots against tonight. New Jersey was out-shot 49-30. The Devils have been out-shot by their opponents in the last five games.

Player Notes

  • Michael Cammalleri  scored two goals tonight (EV; 3:33, 1st/PP; 9:19, 2nd). He has three goals and two assists over the last two games and has 11 points (7g-4a) over his last five games.
  • Vernon Fiddler scored his first goal (SH) of the season and his first as a Devil at 4:00 of the second period. It was his first goal in 28 games (since Mar. 22, 2016, 2g). The goal was unassisted. He also matched a season-high four shots on goal tonight (Oct. 28 vs. Chi).
  • Pavel Zacha recorded an assist on Cammalleri’s second goal and has points in two straight games (1g-1a).
  • John Moore also assisted on Cammalleri’s second goal and has three points (1g-2a) over the last two games. He also had a team season-high seven hits tonight.
  • Kyle Palmieri had the lone assist, his second in two games, on Cammalleri’s first goal.
  • Keith Kinkaid made a career-high 46 saves (2-3 in the shootout) in his fifth start of the season. He is now 2-1-2 in 2016-17.
  • Ben Lovejoy led New Jersey with 23:54 of ice-time in his first game returning to Pittsburgh since becoming a Devil in the offseason.
