The New Jersey Devils today signed its 2016 third-round pick Brandon Gignac to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The 19-year-old forward is in his fourth QMJHL campaign with the Shawinigan Cataractes. In 2016-17, Gignac has five goals, 11 assists for 16 points through 14 games, which includes a season-high four-point night against Halifax on Oct. 14. In 2015-16, he had career-highs in all offensive categories with 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points.
Gignac attended this season’s New Jersey Devils Training Camp. He played in one preseason game with New Jersey and also skated for the Devils at this year’s Prospects Challenge in Buffalo, NY. He attended Devils Development Camp in July after being New Jersey’s fourth selection (third round), 80th overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft.
